Flight April 5, 2005

CFI: Jason Hill

Solo day. Jason threw me an engine failure and a go-around before getting out. When the time came, as so often happens, I was busy with the knobs and levers, so I kind of didn't realize that anything was different at first. The tower cleared me for touch and go on the first loop, and I requested full stop. He offered me stop-n-go instead, and once on the ground, I had to request advice on what a stop-n-go actually was. We got that straightened out, and then after take off, I called jason on the company freq. And asked if it counted. Jason didn't respond, so I just went with it. My second landing landing went ok, and on the third loop, Jason said "remember to pick me up this time", which I took to mean that my stop-n-gos were counting. I ended up scrubbing #3 and going around. After the fourth (third good) landing, I picked him up, and we departed back towards HNL. Only 8.3 NM away, the weather at HNL was a little soupy and bumpy, but I got it on the ground. Thank goodness for good weather at PHJR.

After we got back to FSH, he cut the back of my shirt out, and I went and bought pizza, which is supposed to avoid the inevitable no-pizza two weeks of bad weather. I have seen the shirt thing elsewhere, but I think that the flight instructors might have made the other thing up, in order to get the pizza. But I'm not taking any chances.
