Cancelled Flight March 9, 2005

My 43rd birthday. I was excited about doing something "fabulous" on my birthday (as Heidi always recommends). Me, I wouldn't know "fabulous" if it bit me on the nose, but I felt that I was on the right track. I went to pre-flight the plane, and it wasn't there. Befuddled, I looked around me, and it was over by the shop. So, not seeing anything immediately wrong with it, I began running through the checklist. I was just getting the flaps down when Jason showed up, and said "let's walk around this airplane and see what we see".

The left wingtip was missing. (Remarks in the dispatch say " Left wing tip still missing post fuel truck accident !!!!!!!!! be up 9.00 am Thursday 3/10 Steve P. "). What really happened is that the fuel truck nicked another plane, and the mechanics stole the wingtip off of N790SP to replace it, since N790SP was supposedly going to be out of commission until its annual inspection was complete.

I guess I learned that I need to zoom out on my pre-flights...
